With a Ph.D. from the famous Prague Film School, FAMU, and under the
guidance of Milan Kundera, Frank Daniel, Elmar Klos, and others, Hafed
produced, directed and wrote more than forty productions of different
genres: feature, documentaries, news, ads, corporate, audiovisual and
multi-screen programs.
In 1992, he joined the Minneapolis College Cinema Department to teach Film
and Video Production, Screenwriting and Financial Management. He developed
within the Cinema Department a new award-winning Screenwriting program. He
currently chairs the Screenwriting Program while developing his own
screenplays and continuing his cinema production.
Pursuing a long experience as a jury member at several international film
festivals, he currently acts as a script consultant and panel member to
local and national competitions, foundations and grant organizations. He
is also the President of the Minnesota Screenwriters Workshop and chairs
the Board of Directors of the Twin Cities Film Fest.
Hafed is a member of several international and national professional
associations such as IFP Minnesota (Independent Feature Projects), the
Minnesota Film and Television Board, The Pan-African Filmmakers
Association (Dakar, Carthage), the African Documentary Association (Cairo)
and CIDALC (International Committee for the Promotion of Arts and Letters
Through Film).
